Profile

Daniel focuses on Islamist militant groups in conflict settings and fragile states. He has co-authored the Global Extremism Monitor and his work has spanned Africa, the Middle East and South-East Asia. He is currently exploring the state-building efforts of militant groups, revealing the social embeddedness and governance measures of non-state actors in ‘ungoverned’ or contested spaces. His work aims to provide policy solutions for humanitarian assistance and basic services in conflict-affected societies.
