Liberia Country Head, Effective Governance

Profile

Jonathan leads the Institute's Effective Governance team in Liberia. His team works with government officials to help them foster inclusive growth and economic diversification through the capacity strengthening of the center of government, energy, road and port infrastructure development, agriculture and agro-processing development and reform of the education sector.

Jonathan also leads the Institute's Inclusive Growth and Private Sector Development Practice. The practice supports governments to roll out their own visions of inclusive growth. Their first publication, The Jobs Gap, explains how governments and their partners can avoid the shortfall of 50 million jobs that Africa is projected to face by 2040, arguing that they should adopt politically-smart market-based sector development, so that Africa can continues its ascent. 

Prior to joining the Institute, Jonathan worked as a long-term embedded advisor in Malawi's Ministry of Trade and Industry, through Imani Development, and in Guyana's National Competitiveness Strategy Unit, through the Oversea Development Institute's Fellowship. He started off his career working as an economics consultant with the Center for Economics and Business Research in the United Kingdom.
