Hywel Evans

Hywel is a seasoned legal and business leader with senior experience across banking, sales and trading, and corporate governance. He has served as Co-Global General Counsel for both Global Banking & Markets and Global Commercial Banking at HSBC, alongside three years as Chief Operating Officer for the global legal function.

His background includes time as a structurer on the trading floor at Deutsche Bank, giving him deep commercial, transactional and regulatory insight grounded in practical market experience. He has worked extensively across Asia, Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Africa, bringing a sophisticated understanding of diverse legal and operating environments. At TBI, Hywel’s leadership will be instrumental in overseeing legal matters globally and strengthening the governance and compliance systems that support the Institute’s international mission. He is also a qualified executive coach.
