James Patterson-Waterston

James brings deep expertise in sustainable economic development, cities, infrastructure and net-zero transitions across the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. His work supports political leaders in translating ambitious national visions into tangible delivery – strengthening state capability, governance and the responsible application of technology and AI to drive change.

Prior to joining TBI, James was a Partner at McKinsey & Company, where he led global work on sustainable cities and infrastructure. He has advised governments in over 30 countries on large-scale urban development, special economic zones and long-term growth strategies, working closely with international finance institutions and private-sector partners across multiple regions.
