Catherine Rimmer
Chief Executive Officer
Catherine Rimmer leads the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, driving our mission to help governments deliver ambitious reform. She also serves on the Institute’s board.
Since the Institute’s launch in 2016 she has overseen its growth and transformation into a leading advisor for governments worldwide, helping them harness technology – including the opportunities provided by artificial intelligence – to reimagine the state, deliver more effectively and achieve real-world impact. Working alongside global partners, Catherine has positioned TBI at the forefront of shaping how governments adapt and innovate in an era of rapid change.
Catherine began her career in journalism before moving into public service, spending seven years at the BBC. Her career in government began at Number 10 Downing Street, where she was a special advisor to Tony Blair and served as deputy head, and then head, of the Research and Information Unit.
Her experience in government – helping deliver complex, cross-cutting policy reform at the highest level – directly underpins TBI’s work with leaders to design and implement practical solutions for today’s most pressing challenges. She left Number 10 Downing Street with Tony when he stepped down as prime minister in 2007 and served as his chief of staff until she became CEO of TBI in 2016.
