Maz Kamali is a researcher in the Co-Existence team at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. Through the Global Extremism Monitor, he tracks violent and nonviolent extremism and measures to counter it, conducting research and analysis using the data. He also co-writes the weekly Co-Existence news brief, which provides bitesize analysis of major stories involving extremism, conflict, and geopolitics from around the world.
Maz’s experience includes youth development, education, and research analysis. A graduate of SOAS University of London, his main research interests include early Islamic and Middle Eastern history, contemporary Middle Eastern politics and society, and geopolitical conflict. Maz has written commentaries on topics including ISIS propaganda, al-Qaeda, and Myanmar’s Rohingya minority.
