Profile

Raj advises TBI's government clients and in-country teams across Africa on economic policy and investment facilitation in key transformative sectors. Recently he was a member of TBI's Rwanda team, advising the CEO of Rwanda Mines, Petroleum & Gas Board and Cabinet on investment promotion, sector strategy and capacity building.

Trained at the London School of Economics as a development economist, he has worked as an economist embedded in Liberia’s Ministry of Finance advising them on negotiations and management of investment contracts in the extractive sector; an economic consultant with Natural Resource Governance Institute advising the government of Tanzania, parliamentarians and civil society groups on the macro-fiscal management of natural gas revenues; an infrastructure finance advisor with FCDO’s Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (UK NIAF) advising the Vice President’s Office and Federal Ministry of Budget & Planning on structuring PPPs and prioritising capital budget for critical infrastructure projects; and a private-sector development consultant with the World Bank and International Finance Corporation advising Kenya’s Ministry of Industry, Trade & Cooperative on the design and implementation of the Kenya Industry & Entrepreneurship Project. 

Prior to advising governments, he worked for McKinsey & Company’s Centre for Government, Tata Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility, Goldman Sachs Group's Private Wealth Management, and BlackRock’s Portfolio Compliance.
