About us
The tech revolution is one of the most important strategic issues for today’s leaders, and is therefore a central dimension of our public policy agenda.
Our Technology and Public Policy (TPP) work is about equipping leaders to master the revolution in technology – accessing its benefits and mitigating its risks. We do this by curating the key debates and generating politically actionable policy and strategy, and by convening a structured, productive dialogue between leaders in tech and in politics / policy.
Our tech policy team is based at our HQ in Europe (London) and in regional hubs in Africa (Accra), Asia-Pacific (Singapore) and the United States (San Francisco).

About the TPP Associate Fellows Programme
To extend our thought leadership we have established an annual programme for people with a passion for technology and public policy to work with the team in an associate role. In 2020, participants produced original research and published papers on topics including defence tech, anti-vax misinformation, clean tech and AI innovation.
This year we are looking for 10 participants who can apply their knowledge and expertise to help shape the global debate on the policy opportunities and challenges of the Web 3.0 movement and related trends. Participants will produce a substantial written output that addresses this theme and complements our wider policy agenda. We will provide office hours with team members to help advance the work, and a platform to publish final outputs and convene a dialogue around them.
Participants on the 2021 programme will qualify for a total stipend of £3,000 to support their work, paid in two equal instalments over the course of their project.
How big a commitment is it?
We recognise that people have different commitments and capacity to get involved, and are designing the programme to be as flexible as possible. You should be able realistically to commit 2+ days a month to work on your project, for a duration of around six months.
Where is the programme based?
This year's fellowships are virtual, with the majority of interaction and collaboration taking place online. There is no residential component in 2021.
There will be regular opportunities to engage in events and other discussions on tech policy hosted by the Institute. Where participants are invited to contribute to events as part of the programme we will cover reasonable travel costs.
Who are we looking for?
We welcome applications from all backgrounds and all parts of the world. To get the most out of the programme we suggest applicants have the following skills and experience, or equivalent:
3+ years' relevant professional experience
The ability to work independently and deliver to agreed timelines
The ability to produce clear, accessible written content
The ability to collaborate effectively with others 1:1 and as part of a group
