Tribute to Brenda Dean

"Brenda was a huge figure in the Labour and Trade Union Movement. She blazed a trail for women, becoming the first female General Secretary of a major union, and through the strength of her convictions and commitment to reform, she helped usher in significant changes, such as those to higher education through the Dearing Report. I have incredibly fond memories of Brenda. She was a valued friend and advisor and she will be sorely missed. My deep sympathies go to Keith and her family."
